Current Readings || To Kill a Mockingbird
Hello friends. I have recently been inspired by a couple of other bloggers,to share some of the books I have been reading. I have about third-five books on my list to read. I will be sharing them with you along with thoughts on the book, and my likes and dislikes.
I read To Kill a Mockingbird in high school. It is a classic novel. Harper Lee is truly an amazing author. If I am honest,I really had no interest in reading it. My book list had been soured by the reading of The Scarlet Letter. I detested that book. If I could only tell you how much! But that is another story….
I enjoyed To Kill a Mockingbird very much! Not only did the author capture you with her characters, but there is such a strong moral to the story. The message is so moving. It takes place during the time of segregation. The black Americans were free, but still persecuted by words and injustices.
I don't want to spoil the story for anyone, but it is definitely worth a read!
I was truly moved by the message of the book. Harper Lee succeeded is depicting the unfairness and injustice of that time period. That,I believe was her goal. To move her audiences and help them realize, so much the more, that all men are created equal. It is sad to say that many people,
of all colors, still persecute others because of the color of their skin.
The only thing that I didn't like about the book was the strong language used briefly in several chapters. The "N" word is used quite a bit in the book as well.
Overall the book is a good story, and a real credit to the author.
